Chapter 9, Verse 45, Repentance
It is only those who believe not in Allah and the Last Day and whose hearts are in doubt that ask your leave (to be exempted from jihad). So in their doubts they waver.
Chapter 9, Verse 49, Repentance
And among them is he who says:"Grant me leave (to be exempted from jihad) and put me not into trial." Surely, they have fallen into trial. And verily, Hell is surrounding the disbelievers.
Chapter 17, Verse 81, The night journey
And say: "Truth (i.e. Islamic Monotheism or this Quran or jihad against polytheists) has come and Batil (falsehood, i.e. Satan or polytheism, etc.) has vanished. Surely! Batil is ever bound to vanish."
Chapter 38, Verse 31, Sad

When there were displayed before him, in the afternoon, well trained horses of the highest breed [for jihad (holy fighting in Allah's Cause)].
Chapter 47, Verse 21, Muhammad
Obedience (to Allah) and good words (were better for them). And when the matter (preparation for jihad) is resolved on, then if they had been true to Allah, it would have been better for them.
